Jean was looking for a special Mother of the Bride dress that suited her young style yet looked chic and sophisticated for her daughter’s wedding. Jean told me how she struggled to get high street dresses to fit well and, therefore, would end up buying flared, looser styles. Jean has a great figure and I wanted to show that with a fitted cocktail dress that would emphasise her waist and petite frame. I incorporated princess seams, which flattered her bust and an illusion neckline that kept the dress young yet sophisticated. Jean and I fell in love with this beautiful embellished champagne lace, which was placed over a champagne satin. The satin underlining had a subtle sweetheart neckline and complemented the delicate shimmering tones of the lace without giving too much sheen.
